Students in each of Years 8 to 10 Mathematics study the same course until the Second Semester of Year 10 when they need to make a choice between the academic “pure” strand or the applications “general” pathway. In 2012, Unley is trialling units in Years 8 and 9 from the new Australian Maths Curriculum, so that we are fully prepared and conversant with the programmes when they are officially introduced next year.
In the Senior School we offer three main pathways : the academically focused Stage 1 and 2 Maths Studies and Specialist Maths, Stage 1 and 2 Maths Applications and in Stage 1 only, Maths Pathways and Numeracy for Work. Progress from one year level to the next will be dependent on an appropriate standard being achieved in the previous level.
We encourage students to strive their best and achieve their full potential, and at the same time be successfully engaged in the learning process. We provide them with materials and activities which enrich and enhance their learning in order to meet the range of abilities and learning styles in different classes.
